This Melchizedek (King of Righteousness) was king of Salem (King of Peace) who offered Abraham a blessing of wine (Symbol of life & Joy) and bread (Symbol of sustenance & strength).
Melchizedek was removed from the tribe of Levi yet a priest of greater value who received tithes from the Levites through Abraham.
The office of Melchizedek (Jesus) overrode the Levitical priesthood doing away with the sacrificial system.
Hebrews 7:27
He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself.
